A few prerequisite words about the Web
this should be the easiest part...
as i have pointed out many times in the past, the Internet is a network of computers, the Web is a term that refers collectively to all the files stored on those computers...
so far, you have watched the Web like high-tech tv... now, it is time to fully interact with it...
these two accounts (Angelfire and Yahoo) will help you do that...
the key thing here is that the Web consists of files...
files are files... it is all basically the same... whether we are talking about a Playstation game save, or an MP3, or an html page, or a cookie, or a bookmark... files are files...
and files can be transferred across the Web...
when you view a webpage (an html file, usually), your browser downloads it into the machine's memory, translates it, then shows it on the screen... you are the temporary possessor of that file... if you hit disconnect, you can go back and look at all these html files that you have downloaded while surfing...
now, on a dc, you cannot permanently STORE a file... that is what your angelfire account is for...
there are many reasons why you might want to permanently save a file... you will find your own reasons as you go...
but, let me clear... you can transload and store almost any file you find on the web... sound files, video files, text files, pictures, etc... even files that your machine/browser are not even compatible with!

so, the thought to walk away with is that EVERYTHING is a file... a file that you download or transload from one place to another...
